Walking Football here in Frigiliana
Mini tournament with a team from Hull (UK) led by Taff (Anthony Casey)
Walking Football in Frigiliana has gone from strength to strength since it started at the beginning of the year. It’s played in the sports hall on Wednesdays at 4pm by men and women 55 or older – come along, it’s fun!

In the summer the group was named the ‘FRIGILIANA OLD STARS’ and was sponsored by Marc Struyf who produces BRUUT D’frigiliana Cerveceria Den Triest. This is a speciality artisan champagne beer which is produced in his micro brewery in Belgium and is now sold in several bars and restaurants in Frigiliana. Marc kindly provided distinctive blue T-shirts that you may see being worn around town and in the pictures.
Anthony Casey (Taff) used to live in Frigiliana but now lives in Hull back in the UK where he also plays Walking Football. When he heard about the FRIGILIANA OLD STARS he got in touch with us here which resulted in 9 players and their partners flying over from Hull and a mini tournament (3 games) played in the sports hall in October. After the games the Hull and FRIGILIANA OLD STARS with their partners went next door to Splash where Linda and Garry had prepared a superb curry for 40 people! As well as the great food and beer we were also entertained with equally great music from Lee Townsend. The next day there was a another game of Walking Football on the astro-turf followed by a few drinks at bar Osemy!
The Hull team and their partners had a great time in Frigiliana and as well as making some good friends with the FRIGILIANA OLD STARS players and partners, they also managed to frequent several of the local bars and restaurants! It was great week and it’s hoped it will become an annual fixture!
If you want to get a bit fitter and have fun at the same time with a great group of people (men and women) of mixed nationalities, come along for an hour on any Wednesday at 4pm! You don’t have to be a star player to become one of the FRIGILIANA OLD STARS!!
