II Sierra de Bentomiz Conference

8th and 9th of June

On June 8 and 9, Frigiliana will host the II Sierra de Bentomiz Conference on the historical heritage of Axarquía.

The conference aims to disseminate and raise awareness about the value of the Historical Heritage of the villages of Malaga region, La Axarquía, especially the small ones located in the interior. 

These two days put the accent on a relevant facts of the history of Frigiliana: the battle of the Rock. In 2019, 450 years of this sad and violent episode marked the resolution of the coexistence denied with the Morisco community.

The II Sierra de Bentomiz Conference consists of a program with interesting activities that begin on Saturday, June 8, in the multipurpose room where, in the morning, there will be various conferences. In the afternoon, in El Apero, the actors of the official language school of Vélez-Málaga will represent Scenes of the Rebellion of the Moriscos in the Sierra de Bentomiz. After the performance, you can enjoy a guided tour of the archaeological museum and the heritage of Frigiliana.

The next day, Sunday June 9, there will be a climb to the Fort, a significant place in the historical events of the Battle of the Rock.

The II Sierra de Bentomiz Conferences are organized by the Colectivo Patrimonio de la Axarquía, the Taha de Frigiliana Cultural Association and the Frigiliana City Council. They have the collaboration of the Community of irrigators Acequiar and Molino, of the Archaeological Museum of Frigiliana, of the SAT Monteariza and of Agrofisa.
