450 years today since the battle of the Rock of Frigiliana

The Battle of the Rock

Occurred on June 11, 1569 and the last Moors of the Sierra de Bentomiz succumbed, to the Rebellion of the Alpujarras. 
Around this historical fact, last weekend, June 8 and 9, Frigiliana has hosted the II Sierra de Bentomiz Conference on the historical heritage of the Axarquía. This conference aims to disseminate and raise awareness about the value of the Historical Heritage of the villages of the Malaga region of La Axarquía, especially the small ones located in the interior. 
Nearly a hundred people have participated in these conferences and have had conferences and visits to significant places in the historic of this axarquía locality, as well as a theatrical performance of the Rebellion of the Moriscos in the Sierra de Bentomiz and guided visits to the archaeological museum and the heritage of Frigiliana. 
The II Sierra de Bentomizhan Conference has been organized by the Axarquía Heritage Collective, the Taha de Frigiliana Cultural Association and the Frigiliana City Council. They have counted on the collaboration of the Community of irrigators Acequiar and Molino, of the Archaeological Museum of Frigiliana, of the SAT Monteariza and of Agrofisa.
